We love making homemade play dough at our house. There are so many great recipes out there, each with a varying list of ingredients and time involved. This sparkly Christmas 2-ingredient play dough is the easiest and softest homemade play dough recipe I have found.

Sparkly Christmas 2-Ingredient Play Dough

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of conditioner (I try to find one with no added scent).
  • 1  cup of cornstarch (you may need more to get the right consistency, so keep it on hand).

Christmas theme:

  • Red and green glitter
  • Peppermint essential oil

Directions:

Measure the hair conditioner and add to a mixing bowl. Then mix in the essential oil and the glitter.

You will most likely need more than 1 1/4 cup of cornstarch, but 1 1/4 cup is a good measurement to start with. You are looking for a smooth and soft texture that does not break away or crumble when you knead it like bread. It should also not be sticky or stick to the counter when you knead it.

To store it I keep it in a plastic bag and place it in our invitation to play wooden tray with whatever other items I decide to put with it (typically play dough tools, cookie cutters etc).

If it happens to get left out overnight or for a few hours it will begin to crumble apart and dry out. You can try adding more hair conditioner and cornstarch as needed to try and get it back to the right consistency to play with.

We had a lot of fun playing with it this week. I plan on making it monthly with different themes and scents so I hope you will come back and check them all out. Our Sparkly Winter 2-Ingredient Play Dough recipe is a lot of fun too.
